Mexican special forces killed El Mencho, the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), in a perilous operation that involved land and air strikes. Although the operation was a great victory for President Claudia Sheinbaum, it was a perilous operation for her administration. After this violent activity, the experts believe that the Mexican government conducted the operation to ease pressure from President Trump regarding border security and to demonstrate that Mexico can control the cartels without the intervention of US forces. However, the operation has led to violence and roadblocks across Mexico, sparking safety concerns just four months before the World Cup, which Mexico will co-host.
